Many Orange County residents paused this weekend to remember loved ones and ancestors for Dia de los Muertos.

Day of the Dead celebrations are traditionally held on Nov. 1 and 2, and several cities, organizations and cultural centers hosted events to gather their communities. Large celebrations were held in downtown Santa Ana and Fullerton on Saturday, Dana Point hosted an afternoon of mariachi and folklorico dancers on Saturday, and on Sunday, Bowers Museum had a free event.

The city of San Clemente hosted its third annual Día de los Muertos celebration this weekend at Max Berg Plaza Park, where residents added to community ofrendas, or alters, honoring those who have died, and there were performances, art displays and more throughout the afternoon.
