In an industry where most products are petrochemical-based, Custom Comfort stands out for increasing its line of natural fiber mattresses.
“We go through a pretty heavy vetting process,” says Gary Trudell of the Orange County-based manufacturer, of testing organic cotton and wool and talking to suppliers to make sure that any changes in materials will be up to Custom Comfort’s high standards.
The family-owned business, which also has multiple showrooms across Orange County, is one of few mattress brands that sources materials and manufactures products in the U.S., which adds to its popularity, especially as natural fibers have become more popular in recent years amongst those with an interest in health and wellness.
Custom Comfort has also launched a new line of organic cotton sheets and bamboo sheets. “Mattress are the core of what we do,” says Trudell, “but we’re able to find a factory that would build sheet sets to fit our mattresses and our split, adjustable bed systems, so they had the deep pocketed sheet, but they’re organic cotton, so they’re completely breathable.”
The bamboo sheets, he adds, are great for their cooling quality. “It has that nice, silky-soft feel, but it stays cool to the touch,” he explains. The store has also expanded its line of pillows and they’ve updated their adjustable beds, adding more lumbar support and features like dual massage.
