A Nashville hot chicken eatery, known for flavors so spicy that a waiver is required, is opening its first location in Ventura.
Angry Chickz will open its 29th California shop and 32nd location at 4724 Telephone Road on Friday, Sept. 12.
The hot chicken joint is known for its six levels of heat: country (no heat), mild, medium, hot, x-hot and angry (which requires the infamous customer waiver).
The grand opening will offer customers giveaways, gift cards, exclusive prizes, and spicy surprises all day. Per Angry Chickz’s Facebook invite, the first 100 in line will receive a free and limited edition Ventura jersey that will not be available for purchase, and five random people who are in line before 11 a.m. will be entered to win Angry Chickz for a year.
The hot chicken eatery’s signature menu features Nashville-style hot chicken sliders, tenders, and bowls, such as the Angry Mac. The new Ventura restaurant will offer hot chicken enthusiasts a taste of what has made the brand so popular nationwide. The restaurant has also invested in the community, hosting school fundraisers and outreach programs around its new location.
“Ventura is such a vibrant community, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring Angry Chickz here,” said David Mkhitaryan, CEO and founder of Angry Chickz, in a press release. “Our mission has always been to share the best Nashville hot chicken with unmatched customer service, and we’re thrilled to serve a brand-new audience of food lovers on the Central Coast.”
Angry Chickz was founded by David Mkhitaryan in 2018. Angry Chickz set its roots in a 900-square-foot storefront in Los Angeles’ East Hollywood neighborhood and gained a devoted following with its Nashville hot chicken and mac & cheese combos. The eatery has been featured in Quick Service Restaurant’s “Ones to Watch” section, recognized in their 40 under 40 – America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals. Last year, it was named among Fast Casual’s “20 Brands to Watch” and honored with the Hot Concepts award by Nation’s Restaurant News.
