A police pursuit in Anaheim turned into a multi-car collision on Saturday night, authorities said, beginning with a suspected drunk driver hitting a pickup and ending with a police car striking a tree.
The crashes occurred around 10 p.m. on Aug. 23 when police were in a short pursuit of a driver believed to be intoxicated near Santa Ana and West Street, Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter said.
The driver hit the pickup, and then the officer hit the suspect’s car, Sutter said. The police car then continued on, striking a tree, he added.
The suspect was transported to the hospital but had no major injuries, he said. The officer and civilian driver were uninjured.
The suspect was booked on suspicion of DUI and evading a peace officer.
