
The first OC Sports Awards honored many of Orange County’s top athletes and others who have contributed to Orange County sports and philanthropy on Tuesday at Angel Stadium.
The event was organized and managed by The Orange County Sports Commission.
Sports broadcaster Matt Leinart, who played quarterback in the NFL, was a Heisman Trophy winner at USC and was an Orange County football player of the year at Mater Dei, was the master of ceremonies.
The honorees:
Rising Star: Pedro Guimaraes, Orange County Soccer Club
Female high school athlete of the year: Bianca Morrell, Portola HS, flag football
Male high school athlete of the year: Quaid Carr, Servite HS, football and track and field
Heart & Hustle: Will Bermudez, UC Irvine, baseball
Female college athlete of the year: Kailah McKenzie, UC Irvine, track and field
Male college athlete of the year: Hilir Henno, UC Irvine, volleyball
Legacy: Gene Autry

Lifetime Achievement: Scott Boras
Male Pro Athlete of the Year,: Freddie Freeman
