Servite’s boys golf team won the Southern Nevada Invitational in late March. Santa Margarita led Orange County with a sixth-place finish at the recent Champions Invitational in Palm Springs. And Orange Lutheran and Santa Margarita each placed a player on the all-tournament team at the Champions tournament.

The Trinity League has produced several highlights on the links this spring, and the competition appears set to continue with the league race.

Orange Lutheran (7-2 in league) will enter the stretch drive next week with a half-a-game lead on Servite (6-2) and Santa Margarita (6-2).

“The league is just so tough with us, Santa Margarita and Servite,” Orange Lutheran coach Darren Kelso said. “Mater Dei and JSerra are very good teams as well. My guess would be that all five teams are in the Top 10 in the county.”

“It is just so difficult to win a match on the opposing team’s home course,” the coach added. “The top-three teams are undefeated on their home course.”

Servite and Santa Margarita provided an example of the competition earlier this week as they split matches.

On Wednesday, the Friars edged the Eagles 180-181 at Western Hills Country Club. The match featured a four-way tie for medalist. Servite’s Eason Chen and Hanks Wang, and Santa Margarita’s Daniel He and Carson Hagmier each carded par 35s.

On Thursday, Santa Margarita beat Servite 175-185 at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club behind a 5-under-par 31 by Hudson Vedder.

Orange Lutheran plays Santa Margarita April 23 at Tijeras Creek Golf Club to close out its league schedule.

Servite faces JSerra (3-6) and Mater Dei (4-4) on April 30 and May 1, respectively.

Santa Margarita plays Mater Dei at Willowick Golf Course on April 30.

Servite outdistanced Shadow Ridge of Nevada and De La Salle of Concord to claim the Southern Nevada Invitational.

Orange Lutheran’s Nick Davis and Santa Margarita’s Ronin Banerjee tied for third at the Champions to earn all-tournament honors. Davis and Banerjee each finished the three-round competition at 10-under-par.

Mater Dei’s Brayden Jones tied for eighth (5-under-par) and also made the all-tournament team.
