A La Mirada couple was found shot to death in their home over the weekend, with the husband’s death ruled a suicide by the medical examiner’s office.
The Sheriff’s Department received a call at 5:26 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, for the residence in the 13200 block of Corley Drive, Lt. Juan Sanchez said.
The couple’s two sons, one a minor, were home at the time, Lt. Chris Oakley said. He said he believes the children went outside afterward, and a neighbor called the authorities.
There was a firearm found, Oakley said.
Rhonda Alder, 56, died from a gunshot wound to the head, with her death ruled a homicide. The death of Timothy Alder, 57, who also had a gunshot wound to the head, was a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Investigators asked anyone with information about the case to call the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
