
Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies are searching for a man who reportedly stabbed another deputy Tuesday afternoon, March 18.
At around 2:15 p.m., the deputy, whose name was not immediately available, was assaulted by a man while on patrol with a partner in the area of Avenida Pico and Calle de Los Molinos, department spokeswoman Carrie Braun said. Sgt. Matt Parrish said the deputy was stabbed.
The deputy was taken to a hospital to be treated and is expected to make a full recovery.
The suspect was described as a White man in his mid-30s, about 5-feet-10 and 160 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and a beard, the department announced on social media. He was wearing a black jacket and dark pants and was last seen running toward a storm drain at Avenida Pico and El Camino Real.
Details regarding what led to the assault were not immediately available.
Anyone who sees the suspect was directed to call 9-1-1 and to not approach him.
Students at nearby San Clemente High School and Las Palmas Elementary School were sheltering in place, as of 4 p.m.
