Tony Davis is no longer the boys basketball coach at Servite, the school announced Wednesday.
Davis coached the Friars for three seasons. They were 36-46 during his tenure — 36-16 in nonleague games, 0-30 in Trinity League games.
This season Servite was 14-14 overall, 0-10 in the Trinity League and missed the CIF Southern Section playoffs. The Friars met the requirements for an at-large berth but were not selected.
Davis said in a statement: “My family and I enjoyed our time at Servite. I’m thankful for all of the relationships that we were able to build in our time there. I’m disappointed that we didn’t get the opportunity to continue to build the program into what it could be. I want to thank all of my players, their families, and my staff for giving their best during the time that we had. It was a pleasure.”
Davis coached at Mayfair of Lakewood for 15 seasons before taking the Servite job. His Mayfair teams won two CIF-SS championships.
Servite athletic director Matt Marrujo said in a statement: “On behalf of the Servite Leadership Team, we would like to thank Coach Davis for his service to the basketball team and its student-athletes. We appreciate thededication he has displayed and the impact he has made on our community during his time with theprogram. We wish him the best of luck in all his future endeavors.”
