Mater Dei girls basketball standout Kaeli Wynn suffered a leg injury in an 82-43 win against Rancho Christian at the Public vs. Private Showcase at Los Osos High on Saturday night, Monarchs athletic director Kevin Kiernan confirmed.

Wynn, a 6-foot-1 junior forward who is averaging about 19 points, was injured in the third period and didn’t return.

Wynn’s mother, Jody, also Mater Dei’s first-year coach, said her daughter was taken to the hospital.

Kaeli Wynn later posted on social media that her knee wasn’t injured.

“So blessed that it isn’t my ACL,” she wrote on X. “Hoping to learn more from the doctors this week and praying to be back asap!”

Nohe’alani Stores and Addison Deal scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, lead Mater Dei (23-2) to a 12th straight win.

The Monarchs led 39-27 when Wynn suffered the injury. Orange County’s top-ranked team responded with a 15-0 run.

In other Public vs. Private games:

Sage Hill 61, Corona Centennial 53: Amalia Holguin scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Lightning (15-7) to a seventh straight win.

JSerra 68, Westview 56: Rosie Santos made 10 of 11 field goals en route to 22 points and Vivian Grenald added 19 to lead the Lions (14-9).

 At the Glendora showcase:

Villa Park 54, El Dorado 32: Bailey Roczey scored 13 points and freshman Lauren Wolfe added 11 to lead the Spartans (21-4).
