Singer-guitarist Robbie Robertson, the co-founder of The Band who died in August 2023, will be celebrated by a host of musical stars in a tribute concert at the Kia Forum in Inglewood on Oct. 17, organizers announced today.

The Who’s Who of performers scheduled to play Life Is a Carnival: A Musical Celebration of Robbie Robertson include Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Bobby Weir of the Grateful Dead, and Trey Anastasio of Phish.

Others in the lineup include Elvis Costello, Lucinda Williams, Mavis Staples, and Heartbreakers Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench. Daniel Lanois, who produced some of Robertson’s solo work, will play, as will Jim James of My Morning Jacket. Allison Russell, who like Robertson, is Canadian, will play, too.

The rest of the bill includes Eric Church, Warren Haynes, Bruce Hornsby, Jamey Johnson, Daniel Lanois, Taj Mahal, Robert Randolph, Nathaniel Rateliff, Allison Russell, and Don Was.

A presale for Citi cardmembers runs from 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 30 through 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 through Citientertainment.com. Ticket sales to the general public begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Ticketmaster.com.

With The Band, Robertson’s songwriting credits include such classic songs as “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”

The Band’s 1976 farewell concert was filmed as “The Last Waltz” documentary by Martin Scorsese and included guest performances from some of those who will play at the tribute concert, including Clapton, Morrison, and Staples.

For decades, Robertson continued to collaborate with Scorsese, who is one of the executive producers of the tribute show, as a composer, music supervisor and music producer on films from “Raging Bull” and “The King of Comedy” through “The Irishman” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.”
