Grayson Sinek, the CIF Southern Section Division 3AA boys basketball player of the year this past season, transferred from La Habra to JSerra.
JSerra basketball coach Keith Wilkinson confirmed that Sinek is on the JSerra team.
Sinek was All-Orange County second team in the 2023-24 season, his junior year, in which La Habra won the CIF-SS 3AA championship. A 6-foot-2 guard, Sinek scored 11 points in the Highlanders’ 76-45 win over St. Bonaventure in the 3AA championship game.
JSerra last season finished 25-7 overall and was third in the Trinity League with a 7-3 league record that included the Lions’ first varsity boys basketball win over Mater Dei. Two All-county first-team players were seniors on that team, forward Sebastian Rancik and county player of the year Aidan Fowler.
Other transfers in Orange County boys basketball include Kaiden Bailey, All-County first team last season as a sophomore, leaving Crean Lutheran and moving to Calvary Chapel where his father James Bailey is the new boys basketball coach. Basketball/football athlete Cole Leinart transferred to Redondo Union from Newport Harbor. Leinart, son of Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart, transferred from Mater Dei, his father’s alma mater, to Newport Harbor during the 2023 football season.
