A recycled water main burst Wednesday morning, May 29, along a major street in Newport Coast, and officials were urging motorists to avoid the area until repairs were made.
The Irvine Ranch Water District sent out an email alert just after 6:45 a.m. about the water-main break near Newport Coast Drive and San Joaquin Hills Road.
Southbound lanes of Newport Coast Drive and westbound lanes of San Joaquin Hills Road were closed, officials said.
When they will reopen was unclear.
