Mother’s Day isn’t just one brunch and done.
Restaurant reservation company OpenTable looked into its data for 2023 and concluded it was last year’s biggest holiday, followed by the day before, with many women dining out more than once with kids, friends or by themselves.
The holiday is popular across the board, but particularly with Generation Z and Millennials, the company said in a news release.
Steaks, sweets and specialty drinks are among the offerings at chain restaurants for this year’s Mother’s Day, which falls on May 12.

Full service
BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: A new Party Pizookie is designed for all-purpose celebrations. It features vanilla ice cream topped with a chocolate-coated waffle cone and sprinkles. bjsrestaurants.com
Black Angus Steakhouse: Specials on May 12 will include 6-ounce filet mignon stuffed with brie cheese and topped with a garlic confit and mushroom red wine sauce for $36.99 and Strawberry Sparklet cocktail made with vodka for $5. blackangus.com
California Pizza Kitchen: Guests can order heart-shaped pizzas May 10-12. CPK is also kicking in a $10 eBonus card for every $50 e-gift card purchased through May 12. cpk.com
Claim Jumper Steakhouse & Bar: The chain will be serving Mother’s Day brunch 10 p.m.-3 p.m. on May 12. Prices vary by location. Costa Mesa and San Diego Harbor restaurants won’t be participating. claimjumper.com
Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar: A three-course menu will be offered May 11-12 with entrées that include surf and turf. Prices start at $85. flemingssteakhouse.com
Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar: The Costa Mesa casual chain will donate $1 to the nonprofit organization Baby2Baby for every Butter Cake sold May 10-12. lazydogrestaurants.com
Lucille’s BBQ: Moms will receive a $10 bonus card May 10-12. A Mother’s Day weekend “Best of BBQ” menu features fried chicken, grilled salmon and gumbo. lucillesbbq.com
Polly’s Pies: Bottomless mimosas will be available for $13.99, and the chain’s spring menu includes such items as quiche and banana nut muffins.
