Jack Horrocks of Foothill, Zach Lewis of Pacifica and Corona del Mar’s Ava Simos won two events each and set two meet records each in the Laguna Beach Trophy Invitational track meet at Laguna Beach High.
Sea Kings senior Simos set meet records in the 100 and 200 during Saturday’s running events of the two-dayt meet. She won the 100 in a meet-record 12.07, the fastest time in Orange County this season. Simos won the 200 in a meet-record 14.62.
Foothill senior Jack Horrocks won the 800 in a meet-record 1:53.39 and the 1600 in a meet-record 4:16.93.
In Friday’s field events Pacifica senior Zach Lewis crushed the meet shot-put record. His winning throw of 59 feet, 6½ inches beat the previous record mark by more than 15 feet. Lewis set the discus mark with a winning throw of 172 feet and 2 inches which, like his shot put number is the best mark in Orange County this season.
Trabuco Hills junior Holly Barker was among the meet record-setters, winning the 3200 in 10:08.13. That is the second-best time in California this season.
Long Beach Poly’s boys and girls 4X100 relay teams set meet records. The Jackrabbits girls went 47.39 seconds, more than a second faster than Santa Margarita’s previous record 2018 time of 48.84. Their boys team raced to a 42.05.
Also on Saturday, in The TEN Invitational at JSerra, JSerra senior Georgia Jeanneret ran the state’s best time in the girls 800 at 2:09.18. Ventura junior Sadie Englehardt ran a state-record 4:09.70 in the 1500 at the meet.
