The nominees are listed below with an endorsement from their nominating teacher, the identification of their strongest specialty and a link to their work. Those students missing their specialty and link did not complete their application, however, they are still considered nominees because they are being honored by their teacher and school.

“Katie has been a pioneer, creating Special Makeup Effects with a love and vision for the practical arts uniquely her own. … (For the play, ‘A Monster Calls,’) she began by creating life casts of the three actors playing the monsters using alginate and plaster, and then designed and sculpted three different monsters in clay using a variety of textures and details. She then cast these in plaster to create molds. These molds were then used to cast custom foam latex prosthetics, which were painted using airbrushing, washing and drybrushing techniques. She says that she is like Dr. Frankenstein, except she ‘loves her creations’ and the four now have a special bond as ‘The Monster Squad.’” — Scott Hudson, Fullerton Union High School
