The Chargers said Friday they interviewed Dan Quinn, the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, for their coaching vacancy and Jeff King, the Chicago Bears’ co-player development director for the past two years, for their open general manager’s job.
Quinn was the 12th candidate to interview to replace Brandon Staley as coach, a list that includes University of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, former Stanford University coach David Shaw and former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel. Quinn coached the Atlanta Falcons for five seasons before joining the Cowboys in 2021.
Quinn, 53, led the Falcons to the Super Bowl following the 2016 season.
King, 40, played seven seasons in the NFL as a tight end with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals before joining the Bears’ scouting department as an intern in 2015. He rose through the ranks and now oversees Chicago’s pro scouting, free agency and draft evaluations.
King is the eighth candidate to interview to replace Tom Telesco as GM. Staley and Telesco were fired on Dec. 15, one day after the Chargers’ 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
