A suspect in the shooting death of another person at a Brea apartment complex was in custody on Thursday, Aug. 31, authorities said, though details surrounding the killing were sparse as police continued their investigation.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, shots were fired inside the Raintree Apartment Homes complex, located at 650 N. Tamarack Avenue, according to the Brea Police Department.
Authorities urged residents to remain indoors on Wednesday evening with little information initially available. Later that evening, authorities confirmed that one shooting victim was found dead inside the complex.
Information on the victim was not immediately available on Thursday pending notification of family.
Detectives identified a possible suspect who was taken into custody Thursday afternoon, though no information on the suspect was made immediately available by police. It was not clear on Thursday what the relationship, if any, there was between the suspect and the victim.
