There will be a full day of vintage-inspired fun on Sept. 9 marking the 100th anniversary of Anaheim’s Packard Building.
The 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. celebration is a part of a series of state-wide celebrations of historic places in conjunction with the California Preservation Foundation’s “Doors Open California.”
There will be a classic car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. along the boardwalk at Farmers Park. The Rotary Club of Anaheim members will act as host to a Mills Act plaque reveal and ceremony at noon at the Packard Building.
Four jazz bands will perform from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and there will be guided tours of the property between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to come in 1920s style.
Special pricing will be available at some of the establishments.

The art of fall
The Center Gallery’s latest exhibit is featuring the talented artists of the Anaheim Fall Festival.
New works by Evie Yapelli/ShowPigeon, Hayden Evans, Jessica Kelly, Beanie Marie, Rhode Montijo, Coppertop Ink, Lisa Penney, Pinata Design Studio, Chris Simich, Brandon Campbell, Tiki Tony, Gustavo Jaimee and Debbee Thibault are featured.
The exhibit will be on display through Oct. 3; the Center Gallery is inside the Downtown Community Center.
Local NLYM chapter is recruiting
The National League of Young Men, Greater Orange Chapter, is looking for new members.
The nonprofit organization for young men in high school promotes the development of community leaders through leadership involvement, charitable and community service, cultural experiences, and protocol education. They participate in volunteering with their moms and with the young women of the National Charity League for multiple nonprofits and community events.

Getting ready for Halloween festival Oct. 28
The Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade is getting ready for its 100th year celebration.
Plans are big and include a Halloween-themed beer festival on Oct. 7, new exhibits and a history of Halloween exhibit at the Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center.
The Fall Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 28 on the Center Street Promenade and will include an old-fashioned Halloween carnival, local artists, live music, magic shows, kiddie and doggie costume contests, float decorating, kids crafts and much more.
The group needs more help working on the floats and parade’s organization. Visit anaheimfallfestival.org and sign up as a volunteer or donate to help fund this community effort.

Colonists celebrate class reunions
Anaheim High School reunions are set and it’s time to party.

Class of 1964: Sept. 15
Class of 1963: 60th reunion on Sept. 16
Class of 1993: 30th reunion on Sept. 16
Class of 1998: 25th reunion on Sept. 16
The big Anaheim High Homecoming game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 15 at Glover Stadium in La Palma Park and the all-class reunion and Colony Car Show will be at the Anaheim High from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 16.
