Dan Albano ranks the top 10 wide receivers and tight ends in Orange County going into the high school football season:

TOP 10 WIDE RECEIVERS & TIGHT ENDS

1. Ryner Swanson, Laguna Beach, TE: The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior (BYU commit) stretches the field with his ability to gain yards after a catch. That’s due to his exceptional athleticism and instincts. His 83 catches last season lead the county’s returning wide receivers and tight ends.

2. Davon Mitchell, Los Alamitos, TE: The 6-foot-5, 245-pound transfer, who is from Allen, Texas, looks like a major red zone threat with his size and athleticism. In July, he committed to Oklahoma and reclassified as a senior.

3. Jordan Anderson, Newport Harbor, WR: The Oregon commit played at Millikan last season and displayed his skills by hauling in 47 catches for 984 yards (21 yards per catch) and 12 TDs.

4. Marcus Harris, Mater Dei, WR: The acrobatic junior could emerge as the No. 1 target for Elijah Brown. He had a team-high 12 touchdowns last season.

5. Phillip Bell, Mission Viejo, WR: The recent transfer carries impressive credentials. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound junior caught 32 TDs the past two seasons at Christian Brothers of Sacramento and holds offers from several schools, including Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and USC.

6. Trent Mosley, Santa Margarita, WR: During the Battle at the Beach passing tournament this summer the sophomore showed that he possesses No. 1 receiver skills. Get ready for a breakout season.

7. Jason Robinson Jr., Santa Margarita, WR: The Long Beach Poly transfer and Washington commit will inject the Eagles with speed. He had 46 catches for 671 yards last season, that’s almost 15 yards per catch.

8. Josiah Lamarque, Newport Harbor, WR: The 5-foot-11, 185-pound senior is coming off a breakout season of 69 catches for 989 yards and 11 TDs. That production came in a pairing with wide receiver Kashton Henjum. Don’t expect Lamarque to slow down as he teams with Jordan Anderson this season.

9. Mason York, Edison, WR: The 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior impressed many observers during the Battle at the Beach passing tournament. The Chargers’ No. 1 option showed improved speed that should help him become a 1,000-yard receiver this season.

10T. Marcus Brown, Mater Dei, WR: Brown was one of the Monarchs’ surprise performers last season, leading the team with 701 yards receiving. The senior showed this summer, during the Battle at the Beach and South County passing tournaments, that he’s ready to produce again.

10T. Russell Weir, Corona del Mar, WR: The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior moves to the Sea Kings’ tradition-rich No. 1 receiver spot with the momentum of a strong offseason and junior campaign. He had 48 catches for 726 yards and six TDs last season.
