One man died and another was injured after a Saturday afternoon shooting in Stanton, authorities said.
Deputies responded to the 10000 block of Fern Avenue around 2 p.m. and two men were located with multiple gunshot wounds, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Sgt. Frank Gonzalez.
One of the men succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, the other victim was in surgery as of Saturday evening, Gonzalez said. Their exact ages were not immediately available. It was not immediately clear whether the victims lived at the Fern Avenue residence or whether they knew one another.
No suspect has been identified, but multiple people were being detained, Gonzalez added. It was not immediately clear whether a weapon was recovered at the scene.
Shortly before 6 p.m., OCSD issued an advisory on social media urging people to avoid Fern Avenue and Chanticleer Road. As of late Saturday evening, the advisory had not been lifted.
