A 33-year-old woman was arrested on the 5 Freeway in Mission Viejo on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 9, after she used her vehicle to ram several others in a parking lot before fleeing, authorities said.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 24000 block of Chrisanta Drive, near La Paz Road, about 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman driving erratically, Sgt. Mike Woodroof said.

The woman took the southbound 5 and was stopped a short distance later by the California Highway Patrol, Woodroof said.

Authorities shut down the southbound lanes while the CHP took the woman into custody.

She was booked into jail on suspicion of vandalism, assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and reckless driving, Woodroof said.

Why the woman rammed the parked vehicles was unclear.
