A pedestrian was killed early Saturday morning In Laguna Beach after being struck by a car.
The crash occurred at 2:47 a.m. in the 700 block of Coast Highway after a witness called 9-1-1 to report a man lying in the street, said Laguna Beach police Lt. Cornelius Ashton. The pedestrian was outside a nearby crosswalk.
Laguna Beach Police and fire personnel responded, but the man later died at the scene, Ashton said.
The driver of the car that struck the man remained on the scene and cooperated with police, Ashton said.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have been a factor, he said. Police are also investigating if the man could have been lying in the road because of a fall.
Coast Highway between Thalia and Legion streets was closed until 8:30 a.m.
