GARDEN GROVE — The list of freshmen to watch in Orange County girls basketball received another addition on Monday, and it’s Charlotte Muller of Esperanza.

The forward sank 10 3-pointers en route to 33 points to help the Aztecs defeat St. Anthony 84-58 at the Presion Showcase at Orangewood Academy on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Senior guard Kaiya Mack added 31 points, including five 3-pointers, for Esperanza (17-3), ranked seventh in Orange County.

The county record for most 3-pointers in a game is 13 by Isabelle Avalos of Buena Park in 2020.

In other games at the Presion Showcase:

No. 1 Mater Dei 81, No. 5 San Juan Hills 38: Sophomore guard Addison Deal scored 15 of her 21 points in the first quarter to help the Monarchs (19-2) open a 34-3 lead after eight minutes.

Freshman forward Kaeli Wynn added 25 points off the bench for Mater Dei.

The Monarchs played without center Jenessa Cotton because of a head injury, Coach Kevin Kiernan said. Kiernan said the junior is questionable to play at No. 3 Rosary in the Trinity League on Tuesday.

Sophomore Anna Shreeve paced San Juan Hills (18-4) with 14 points.

Santiago Corona 44, No. 2 Sage Hill 40: Freshman Amalia Holguin scored 16 points and junior Emily Eadie scored nine of her 13 points in the second half but the Lightning (13-8) fell to the Sharks in a pairing of the CIF SoCal Division II finalists from last season. Sage Hill edged Santiago 43-41 last season in the regional final en route to the claiming the state title.

Eadie had 11 rebounds and two assists while fellow junior Kat Righeimer added nine points.

Sage Hill trimmed Santiago’s lead to 35-32 on a putback by Eadie in the fourth quarter by the Sharks’ Rylee Ghent responded for a 3-pointer to keep her team in control.

McKinley Willardsom paced Santiago with 13 points while Ghent and Jayda Cobbs added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

“It’s not revenge but it’s still nice to get them back,” Sharks coach Mike Mitchell said of Sage Hill, which again played without Annabelle Spotts (ankle).

No. 12 Orangewood Academy 75, Xavier Prep 57: Sophomore forward Emalynn Vong tied her season-high with 27 points and sophomore Maria Mejia added 17 points and nine rebounds to lead the host Spartans (17-3) to a sixth consecutive victory.
