At least three people were killed and four others were wounded in a shooting in Beverly Crest early Saturday morning.
The shooting happened just after 2:30 a.m. on the 2700 block of Ellison Drive near Benedict Canyon. The multimillion-dollar home where a gathering took place was a “short term” rental, police said.
Of the seven people who were shot, four were standing outside. The three who were killed were in a vehicle.
Their identities were not released, including ages or genders. Those who were injured were taken to a hospital; two were in critical condition.
Police said they did not have information on what led up to the shooting.

“We’re still interviewing additional occupants as well as witnesses and neighbors, to try to piece together exactly what happened here,” LAPD Sgt. Bruce Borihanh told reporters. “Investigators are also going door to door and looking for additional surveillance video, or any evidence that can help us determine what happened here and why these victims were shot.”
Officers found five gunshot victims upon arrival, Borihanh said. Two had been taken to a hospital before officers arrived.
Investigators do not believe there is a danger to the public, based on interviews with witnesses and other occupants so far, Borihanh said.
Beverly Crest, a neighborhood of multimillion-dollar homes, is east of Coldwater Canyon Drive and borders the city of Beverly Hills on the east, west and south. Sherman Oaks is to the north, Bel Air to the southwest.
The shooting was called in from a house that last sold for $2.39 million, according to Redfin. The home also has been listed for rent at more than $17,000 a month.
This is the third mass shooting in California this month.
The shooting comes a week after a massacre at a dance hall in Monterey Park left 11 dead and nine wounded and only days after a gunman opened fire on a pair of mushroom farms south of San Francisco on Monday, fatally shooting seven people and wounding one. The killings have dealt a blow to the state, which has some of the nation’s toughest firearm laws and lowest rates of gun deaths.
For the third straight year, the U.S. in 2022 recorded over 600 mass shootings in which at least four people were killed or injured, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
