An 18-year-old woman was killed and three others injured after the car they were travelling in slammed into concrete barricades in Westminster Tuesday, Dec. 6, authorities said.
Orange County firefighters arrived to the area of Westminster Boulevard and Rancho Road just before 9:40 p.m. and found the car teetering on top of the barricades over a trench in a construction zone, Westminster police Cmdr. Kevin MacCormick said.
The woman, a Huntington Beach resident, was the front passenger, MacCormick said. The three others inside the car were taken to area trauma centers.
The woman was not identified by police pending notification of her relatives.
Details regarding the circumstances ahead of the crash were not yet known. Police were investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, MacCormick said.
Video from OnSceneTV shows firefighters extricating the four occupants as the car was tilted downward into the trench.
The construction zone was along the median of Westminster Boulevard, the video showed.
