Several of Orange County’s top girls soccer teams will be in action next week at the Excalibur Tournament hosted by Foothill.

The field of 22 teams includes Los Alamitos (4-3-1), San Clemente (7-0-3), Edison (3-2-3), Mater Dei (2-1-2) and Huntington Beach (6-2) among others.

The tournament runs Tuesday through Thursday at Foothill, Tustin and Barry Turner Field. The championship match is scheduled for Thursday at Barry Turner Field at 3 p.m.

CIF-SS girls soccer polls, Dec. 13

Los Alamitos finished third at the recent Best in the West tournament. San Clemente won the Butch Lee Classic. The teams could collide in the second round Wednesday night at 5 p.m.

Defending champion Cathedral Catholic (4-3) opens against Millikan (8-2-2) on Tuesday.

Santiago of Corona (7-0) looks like one of the strongest squads in the field. The Sharks, the CIF-SS Division 1 runner-up last season, meet the Cypress-Esperanza winner on Tuesday night.
