This week’s Orange County girls water polo rankings, Dec. 7:
GIRLS WATER POLO TOP 10
1. Laguna Beach (2-0)
The Breakers passed an early-season test by holding off San Marcos 10-9 last week but face another big challenge in No. 2 Orange Lutheran on Saturday. Laguna Beach and Orange Lutheran will clash at Corona del Mar High at 3 p.m.
2. Orange Lutheran (3-0)
Lauren Steele made 13 saves and Sara Naulty added four goals as the Lancers beat Los Alamitos 12-6 in Brenda Villa’s coaching debut last week. Orange Lutheran held off The Bishop’s 12-11 two days later.
3. Foothill (2-0)
Peyton Pierson and Rachel Gazzaniga combined for seven goals in a 10-7 win against Los Alamitos on Tuesday.
4. Newport Harbor (4-0)
The reigning CIF-SS Open Division champion edged Mater Dei 11-10 on Saturday in its biggest challenge so far.
5. Los Alamitos (1-2)
Griffins are seeded first in a loaded Villa Park Classic that includes Long Beach Wilson, The Bishop’s, San Marcos, Mater Dei and Santa Margarita plus others. The Griffins own a 9-8 win against Long Beach Wilson.
6. Corona del Mar (2-1)
The reigning Division 1 champion dropped a match to Foothill 9-6 last week.
7. Mater Dei (0-2)
The Monarchs look to bounce back from close losses to Long Beach Wilson and Newport Harbor by playing well in the Villa Park Classic this weekend.
8. Santa Margarita (3-0)
The Eagles could face San Marcos in the quarterfinals of the Villa Park Classic on Friday.

9. San Clemente (1-2)
The Tritons have lost big to Laguna Beach and Newport Harbor but expect improvement with Coach Logan Powell back. San Clemente should emerge as a team to watch in Division 1.
10. JSerra (7-1)
The Lions haven’t played too challenging of a schedule so far but a 14-6 loss to Corona del Mar shows they’re skilled. JSerra has some young talent to watch.
Also considered: Huntington Beach (2-2)
