Three Olympic medals won by a USA Women’s Volleyball team player were stolen from a Laguna Hills home and still have not been recovered, officials said on Thursday, Nov. 10
The three medals, a silver Olympic Games London 2012 medal, a bronze Olympic Games Rio 2016 medal, and a gold Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 medal, were in a safe at a home in the 25000 block of Black Horse Lane when they were taken on Oct. 29, said Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun.
The medals were being temporarily stored there when the burglary occurred, she said. Braun declined to name the athlete who won them.
No arrests were made as of Thursday, and the Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone who may have information to contact them.
Earlier this year, another player on the team, Jordyn Poulter, was the victim of a medal theft. Her gold Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 medal was stolen from the center console of her car in Anaheim. The medal was recovered after a woman found it in the trash behind her business and contacted police. An Anaheim man was arrested in connection with the theft.
