A woman was killed in a crash in Santa Ana Saturday morning, Sept. 24, and police are searching for at least one other person who fled the vehicle following the collision, authorities said.
The woman was traveling in a Chevy Tahoe eastbound on Santa Ana Boulevard approaching Grand Avenue, near the 5 Freeway, about 5:30 a.m. when the SUV ran a red light and was hit by a Nissan Versa heading south on Grand Avenue, Santa Ana police said.
The woman was ejected from the SUV and was found lying in the intersection, police said. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.
It wasn’t known if the woman was driving the SUV or if she was a passenger. The other occupant, or occupants, ran off following the collision, police said.
The driver of the car remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
Whether impaired or distracted driving or speeding were factors in the crash was not known.
No additional information about the woman was available.
