Status Update: ThirdLove has free ‘lift’ for Newport Beach educators; USPS hosts hiring fairs

Rent Computer Hardware You Need, When You Need It

Newport Beach teachers, the folks at ThirdLove want to offer you a little lift in this first full month of school.

A free bra, that is.

The lingerie company based in San Francisco is hosting Teacher Appreciation Week this Monday through Sunday, Sept. 18.

The store at Fashion Island is inviting all Newport Beach teachers and educators to come by for a free 24/7 T-shirt bra. The company’s top-seller comes in full- or half-cup sizes and includes proprietary memory foam lining.

The promotional campaign aims to “lend a little extra support this school year.” Educators should bring a school credential to prove they are indeed a teacher. The company also wants to remind teachers, military, first responders and medical staff that they get a 15% discount on purchases all year.

The company launched as an online-only boutique but shifted to brick-and-mortar stores earlier this year. Its first store opened at the shopping center in February.

“California is our number one state (for sales), and that probably doesn’t come as a surprise,” co-founder and CEO Heidi Zak told the Register on the store’s opening day. “San Francisco and LA are two of our strongest markets. As for Newport Beach, in general, it’s a premier shopping destination. Our core customer is a busy mom. We knew that from looking at both the demographics here and our selling patterns that this location would be really great for us.”

USPS gears up for a bevy of job fairs

The U.S. Postal Service continues its hunt for workers in Orange County.

The postal agency, which has been looking to fill a variety of positions for months, will host a series of job fairs through October.

USPS is looking for city carriers, tractor-trailer operators and mail processing personnel.

The job fairs are walk-in events. USPS personnel will be available to help guide applicants with benefit, qualifications and application questions. Laptops also will be available to submit applications.

Social distancing will be enforced and any mask mandate will follow city restrictions.

Here’s the schedule:

Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Laguna Niguel Post Office, 22991 Niguel Rd, Laguna Beach, CA 92677

Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Trabuco Canyon Annex, 29851 Aventura Suite K, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92678

Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – El Toro Post Office, 24552 Raymond Way, Lake Forest, CA 92630

Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Dana Point Post Office, 24551 Del Prado, Dana Point, CA 92629

Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Tustin Post Office, 340 E First Street, Tustin, CA 92780

Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. – North Orange County Career Fair, 340 W Commonwealth, Fullerton, CA 92832

Starting pay for most positions is $18 to $30 per hour. Applications also are accepted online at usps.com/careers.

In August, the National Association of Letter Carriers and the American Postal Workers Union called on USPS to increase hiring because long-term understaffing was hurting employee morale, according to Federal News Network, which reports on government agencies.

The NALC is encouraging Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to convert contract workers to full-time “career” positions.
