JSerra’s girls cross country team was the CIF State and CIF Southern Section Division 4 champion last season.

The Lions, armed with a tremendous group of returnees, could be better this season.

MileSplit.com has the Lions at No. 2 in its California rankings, behind Buchanan of Clovis, the 2021 girls Division 1 state champion.

Brynn Garcia made a splash as a freshman last season. She finished fifth in the CIF-SS Division 4 finals. Lions senior Anastasia Snodgrass was second in the Trinity League finals, junior Georgia Jeanneret was fourth in the league finals and second at the Mt. SAC Invitational, junior Brooke O’Brien was fifth in the league finals and seniors Ellie Johnson and Cameron Murphy add to the team’s unusual depth.

JSerra coach Chase Frazier said freshmen Kayla Tasser and Summer Wilson will contribute to the talented group.

“We’re looking to be one of the top national teams this year and to qualify for nationals,” Frazier said. “We’ve got the Woodbridge Classic coming up and the Clovis Invitational, which will give us a chance to run against some of the best competition in the country.”

Snodgrass is enthusiastic about JSerra’s chances.

“The range and depth we have is unlike any other,” she said. “We’re looking forward to showing that we’re one of the best teams out there. We’ve been training very hard to show everybody what we are.”
