PHOENIX — Freddie Freeman has been named the National League Player of the Week for the third time in his first season with the Dodgers.
Freeman had hits in each of the Dodgers’ six games last week, going 12 for 22 (.545) with two doubles, three home runs, seven runs scored and eight RBIs.
In his debut season with the Dodgers, Freeman leads the majors in doubles (45) and hits (180) and moved past Paul Goldschmidt for the lead in batting average (.331) with his surge last week. The doubles total is a career-high for Freeman and the hits total is within range of his personal best (191 in 2018).
