For 35 years, Freedom Village in Lake Forest has been a place where seniors can thrive. “It’s kind of like living on a cruise ship that doesn’t really move,” says Eric Salgado, director of sales and marketing.
Residents have access to fitness classes, musical entertainment, card games and astronomy classes. They can create inside the recently refurbished art studio, attend events like the high tea in spring or luau during the summer. Group excursions are popular too, such as the Friday beach walks or trips to casinos. Freedom Village offers a variety of health services from wellness classes to extended care.

There are actually two golf courses at Laguna Woods Village and it’s one of the community’s most popular features. Also popular are the 250+ clubs, the swimming pool and arts and crafts programming. Events are held throughout the year, the most popular of which is the annual Woodstock party thrown by the Baby Boomer Club.
“It’s very social, very active,” says Eileen Paulin, director of media and communications for Laguna Woods Village. In addition to the social opportunities, Laguna Woods Village has a Social Security department on site to assist residents when needed.
