California’s Great America will roll out new live shows, bring back seasonal events and expand weekend hours in 2023 as the Northern California theme park begins the process of slowly preparing to close its gates in the coming years.
Great America is not expected to add any major new rides as the Bay Area park winds down operations over the next decade.

A Peanuts Celebration will see Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the gang take over the entire park during an upcoming limited-time special event in 2023.
The Carnivale at Orleans Place festival that debuted in 2022 featuring Cajun food, fireworks, live music and themed entertainment will return to Great America in 2023. The park’s end of the year WinterFest seasonal event will also be back in 2023.

Great America dropped Halloween Haunt in 2022 in favor of an all fun, no fright Tricks and Treats family event.
Beginning in January, California’s Great America will be open for weekends all year long.
In May, Great America expanded the All-American Corners area of the park with the new Scrambler-style Liberty Twirler midway ride, the return of the park’s Enterprise-style Orbit centrifugal force thrill ride and the “Corner Notes” musical song and dance show.

Ohio-based parent company Cedar Fair announced in June that Great America’s days were numbered and the lame duck Bay Area park will close its gates within 11 years or sooner.
