Get ready to race through Bowser’s Castle in a sweet go-kart-style vehicle because the all-new Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride coming to Universal Studios’ Super Nintendo World.
Earlier this year, the Hollywood theme park announced that its Super Nintendo World would officially open in early 2023.
Now, the park has revealed details about its latest attraction, which will include life-sized, four-seat Mario Kart vehicles and use augmented reality goggles and projection mapping technology alongside oversized set pieces and a moving track to create a multi-sensory experience that puts guests inside the beloved Nintendo game.
As part of Team Mario, guests will steer through a variety of courses to compete for the Golden Cup while collecting coins in an effort to defeat Team Bowser. The ride will also recreate several iconic environments from the Mario Kart games so no two races will be alike.
Though there isn’t an exact date for the grand opening, Universal Studios Hollywood did reveal that the game-theme land will fully immerse guests into the worlds of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, Toad and other characters created by Nintendo over the last four decades. The area will be filled with vibrant colors and include rides, interactive play areas and themed shopping and dining.
A similar attraction, Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge, opened at Universal Studios Japan in March 2021 where the theme park’s first video game-inspired land was launched.
