SANTA ANA — A 29-year-old man pleaded guilty and was immediately sentenced to nine years in prison Tuesday for robbing and stabbing a man in Tustin.

Jesus Daniel Pulido pleaded guilty to robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, identity theft, car theft and burglary while also admitting sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a deadly weapon, inflicting great bodily injury on the victim and committing another offense while out on bail, according to jail records.

Co-defendant Francine Christine Amaya, 32, pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon on Oct. 21, 2020, and was sentenced to two years in prison.

Pulido accepted a plea deal from Orange County Superior Court Judge Gary Pohlson, according to court records. He was given credit for 1,101 days in custody.

Officers were called just after 11 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2019, to the 15000 block of Williams Street, where the victim was robbed, police said.

The victim’s attacker followed him home from Santa Ana and as he was making his way into his apartment, the suspect demanded his wallet and he handed it over. The suspect stabbed him multiple times anyway and fled in a stolen 1996 GMC pickup truck, police said, adding that first-responders saved the victim’s life.

Pulido and Amaya charged up the victim’s credit cards in various stores in the Inland Empire, police said.

Pulido was out on parole at the time in a case involving a vehicle pursuit while possessing a loaded gun in San Bernardino County, police said.
