The OC Health Care Agency reported 3,688 more cases of the coronavirus between Friday, June 24, and Tuesday, June 28, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 600,229.

There were 14,109 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Tuesday. The county is averaging nearly 31 new cases a day per every 100,000 residents.

County officials are now reporting updates to coronavirus-related case counts on Tuesdays and Fridays, following changes to reporting timelines at the state level.

There were 209 people reported in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus on Tuesday, including 26 who required intensive care.

The county reported six additional deaths on Tuesday, bringing the count of Orange County residents who have died from the virus to 7,103.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on June 15.

Of the 7,103 deaths reported from the virus, 1,352 were skilled nursing facility residents, 712 were in assisted living facilities, two were OC jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 568,015 people in the county have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
