A 59-year-old Chino Hills man suspected of kidnapping, torturing and holding a woman against her will at his home for months was arrested, authorities announced over the weekend.
On Thursday, June 9, deputies responded to Alterra Park, at 4921 Soquel Canyon Parkway, to a woman who said that Peter McGuire had been holding her against her will at his house for “several months,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. McGuire allegedly tortured, physically assaulted and raped the victim as she was being held against her will, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The victim managed to escape from McGuire’s home in the 16200 block of Cordovan Court just minutes before speaking with the deputies, authorities said. The victim also had visible injuries that were consistent with the her allegations, sheriff’s officials said.
A search warrant was served at McGuire’s Cordovan Court home, but McGuire had left before the warrant was served, authorities said. Evidence was found at his found and a warrant for his arrest was issued, the Sheriff’s Department said.
It was learned that McGuire was at a home in Placentia and on Saturday, June 11, deputies attempted to serve the arrest warrant for McGuire, but he temporarily barricaded himself in the home and refused to come out, authorities said. Around 8:30 a.m., McGuire surrendered and was taken into custody in the 1000 block of Fuchsia Circle Place, according to San Bernardino County inmate logs.
He was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, torture, aggravated mayhem, rape, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon, the Sheriff’s Department said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if McGuire had an attorney representing him.
Anyone with information regarding the investigation was urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 909-364-2000.
