Friends of Canyon Hills Library are sponsoring a two-day “flash sale” from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m. on June 9 and 10 at the Canyon Hills Branch.
The sale features a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction books for all ages as well as a big selection of large print books, classics, cookbooks and puzzles. June 10’s sale includes a $2 Bag of Books of the patron’s choosing.
Proceeds benefit the various programs and services that the nonprofit Friends group provides to the Canyon Hills branch for the benefit of the community. Some of these have included purchase of monthly books selection and refreshments for the Talks and Treats Book Discussions, raffle prizes and refreshments for monthly book talks held at three senior citizen residences in Anaheim Hills, children’s summer reading programs and cultural programs for both children and adults.
Meetings are held at 9:30 a.m., every other month on the third Thursday, the next is in July, in the multipurpose room at the branch. Membership is open to all residents in the community for $10 a year for active members or $25 a year for patron/ business members who want to support the library without active involvement. There is also a $100 lifetime membership available.
Active members assist weekly to help sort and price book donations, and also keep the Larry Rushing to Read Book Nook stocked with good materials.

Learn to hula with Women’s Club
The Anaheim Hills Women’s Club has a fun program planned for its June 15 Luncheon at the Anaheim Hills Golf Clubhouse. And all women in the community are invited.
Guests will have an opportunity to enjoy the Hawaiian themed luncheon that features a presentation from Hawaiian Dancers with a short lesson for those who would like to learn to Hula.
The luncheon begins at 11 a.m., and concludes at 2 p.m.
Cost to attend is $33 per person. Reservations are required and should be made by contacting Karon Kelleher at 714-921-4907 by the June 7 reservation deadline.
A ray of sunshine for the Ebell Club
The Ebell Club of Canyon Hills recently installed officers for its 2022-23 club year.
Heather TerJung assumed the position of president, taking over the reins from outgoing president Patti Faiman, selecting “Spreading Rays of Sunshine” as her theme for the new club year.
Installing officers Linda Lewis and Linda Schleiger incorporated that theme with into the recent meeting with sunflowers and sunglasses as each new officer was installed.
In addition to TerJung, other board members include: Barbara Shaia, 1st vice president, philanthropy; Yolanda Narvaez and Jean Rico, 2nd vice presidents, ways and means; Mary Ohanian and Sharon Algeo, 3rd vice presidents, membership; Patti Price, 4th vice president, programs; and Joan Coy, 5th vice president, social.
Others are: Patti Faiman, recording secretary; Jill Lance, corresponding secretary; Mai Hinwood, treasurer; Donna Frize, parliamentarian and Claudia Theilmann, bulletin.
Special guests in attendance included Mary Sprague, Orange District president, and Terry TerJung, husband of newly elected president.

Support for Tilly’s Life Center
Tilly’s Life Center raised more than $200,000 during its 15th annual charity golf tournament, “TILLYANNA JONES,” with 100 % of those proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization.
Tilly’s Life Center is dedicated to empowering all teens with positive mindsets that enable them to overcome many of life’s challenges such as crisis, adversity and tough decisions they often face on a daily basis.
Tilly’s Life Center partners with youth organizations, including a summer program at Project S.A.Y. (Support Anaheim Youth), a nonprofit that works with high-risk teens in Anaheim and is part of Anaheim’s Youth Development Program. TLC has also sponsored summer programs with Higher Ground Youth and Family Services, a nonprofit that provides mentoring programs for kids living in at-risk communities throughout Orange County.
