A fire that was initially reported as a tree fire spread to mobile homes and carports on the 1300 block of West Valencia Drive in Fullerton on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
Fullerton firefighters and police were sent to the scene around 2:45 p.m. and requested additionally assistance from surrounding agencies, Cpl. Billy Phu with the Fullerton Police Department said. Police worked on evacuating nearby residents and street closures.
Valencia Drive between Euclid St. and Basque Ave. remained closed into Saturday evening. Commonwealth Avenue was briefly closed, but re-opened.
The fire was knocked down before 5 p.m. The extent of the damage was still under investigation, Phu said.
An Anaheim Fire & Rescue firefighter sustained a heat-related injury while battling the flames. He was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be stable, Sgt. Jake Gallacher with the Anaheim Police Department said.
Footage from news service OC Hawk showed cars under carports engulfed in flames and some damage to mobile homes nearby as well. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
