A man was arrested after a homeless man was found stabbed to death in a field in Anaheim on Wednesday, officials said.
Jason Randall Dahl, 53, was found after a passerby reported a possibly deceased person in a field in the area of Phoenix Club Drive and Sanderson Avenue. Investigators believe Dahl was living in the field at the time.
Authorities believe that the victim suffered at least one stab wound. It was not immediately known how long Dahl had been dead before he was found by police. An autopsy is being conducted to determine when he died, Sgt. Jacob Gallacher with the Anaheim Police Department said.
Rolando Echenique, 36, who is also believed to be homeless, was located by police near the crime scene on Thursday and taken into custody. He was booked into the Anaheim Detention Facility for murder and his bail was set at $1 million.
Detectives declined to discuss a possible motive or how the two may have known each other.
