History was made Saturday morning when Anaheim’s Jillian Albayati became the first girl to ever pitch in a CIF Southern Section baseball championship game.
She took the mound as the starting pitcher for Anaheim (21-9-1) against Estancia (27-5) in the CIF-SS Division 6 championship game that started at 10 a.m. at Cal State Fullerton’s Goodwin Field.
Albayati has an 11-0 record and 1.68 ERA this season. She has six complete games and is coming off a 9-1 win over Whittier Christian in the CIF-SS quarterfinals on May 13.
At the @CIFSS Division 6 final … Estancia’s top half of the first: Eagles got a two-out single and that’s it. The outs: fly to right, pop to second base, a 4-3 groundout. Anaheim pitcher Jillian Albayati showed a good curve, good changeup that inning. @ocvarsityguy

Estancia top of the 3rd: Mits, J. Moyer back-to-back singles. Albayati picks off Mits at 2B with a perfect throw. M. Moyer’s soft liner caught by diving Anaheim SS Torres, gets up and throws to 1B to complete the inning-ending double play. 0-0 going into B3. Albayati leads off B3
