For two seasons, it was hard not to say, “Here’s Johnny!” each time UCLA guard Johnny Juzang knocked down a 3-pointer. It was used as an unofficial slogan throughout the Bruins’ NCAA Tournament run to the Final Four in 2021.

Now, it’s “There goes Johnny…”

The former high school standout from Harvard-Westlake High before spending one year at Kentucky announced Wednesday morning via Instagram that he’s declaring for this year’s NBA draft.

“What a ride it’s been,” he wrote. “My couple years at UCLA were a couple years I’ll never forget. Last year’s run to the Final Four, and this year’s electric season and atmosphere in Pauley Pavilion, were so much fun to be a part of…I’ll forever be a Bruin and we’ll all remember the great moments we had. I’m going to continue to represent UCLA and the city of Los Angeles professionally now, as I am entering the 2022 NBA Draft.”

Juzang averaged 15.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 57 games (55 starts) for UCLA over the past two seasons. He was named to the All-Pac 12 Conference second team in 2021 and earned first-team honors this season.

Juzang raised his profile immensely in both NCAA Tournament appearances, averaging 19.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in nine career tournament games and shooting 48.2%. He scored the most points in the tournament in 2021, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player Award in the East Region after averaging a tournament-best 22.8 points per game.

Juzang ends his UCLA career ranked No. 10 in school history in most career points scored in the NCAA Tournament (174 points).

“Johnny has been tremendous for us during his two seasons in Westwood,” UCLA coach Mick Cronin said. “… We will miss him. We all wish Johnny nothing but the best as he pursues his professional career. We thank him and his family for joining ours as Bruins. The UCLA family will always be there to support Johnny.”

Juzang tested the NBA waters last season after his great tournament run, but decided to come back to play the 2021-22 campaign. His 6-foot-7 frame combined with his elite shooting will be appealing to NBA teams with his ability to space the floor. Juzang is projected to be late first-round to middle second-round pick, according to multiple draft projection websites.
