Steve Fryer’s list of outstanding baseball players last week:
Britton Beeson, Villa Park, Sr., 1B: He was named player of the game in the Boras Classic South championship game. Beeson drove in five runs with a double and a home run.
Gabe Garcia, Foothill, Sr., P: Garcia had a no-hitter through 6.1 innings in his complete game win over Servite, a 4-0 Knights win in the Boras Classic South consolation championship game.
Bobby Gray, Trabuco Hills, Jr., 3B: He hit a home run in all three of the Mustangs’ wins over San Clemente, including a grand slam and a three-run homer. He was 6 for 12 for the week with 11 RBIs.
Chad Gurnea, Pacifica, Jr., P: Gurnea pitched a complete game allowed no earned runs and four hits with six strikeouts in the Mariners’ 2-1 win over Cypress in an Empire League game. Gurnea this season is 7-2 with a 1.23 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 58 innings.
JJ Hollis, JSerra, Jr., P: He held Orange Lutheran to one run on three hits in his complete-game 4-1 win over the Lancers in the Boras Classic South semifinals. It was Hollis’ second win over Orange Lutheran.
