Two men with hammers smashed counters at a jewelry story inside the Brea Mall on Friday evening before fleeing, prompting a manhunt, police said.
Police were called to the scene at Kay Jewelers just before 7 p.m.
They were actively looking for suspects, said Lt. Tony Barbosa, a spokesman for the Brea Police Department.
It was not immediately available what was taken or the extent of the damage.
No injuries were reported.
