The Rams announced linebacker Travin Howard agreed to stay with the team Saturday, signing a one-year, $2.54 million contract tendered to the restricted free agent.
With Rams kicker Matt Gay reaching the same agreement Thursday, the team is keeping both of the restricted free agents to whom it tendered contracts in March.
Both were heroes of the game that sent the Rams to the Super Bowl.
Howard, 25, a seventh-round draft pick from TCU in 2018, started two games in the regular season and two in the playoffs, making the interception that sealed the NFC championship game win over the 49ers.
Howard looms as the Rams’ No. 3 inside linebacker, behind recently signed Bobby Wagner and second-year Ernest Jones.
The Rams chose not to tender a contract to restricted free-agent linebacker Troy Reeder, who signed with the Chargers.
Gay, 28, signed during the 2020 season, earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and won the NFC title game with a 30-yard field goal with 1:46 to play.
