The OC Health Care Agency reported 288 more cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, April 5, increasing the cumulative total since tracking began in the county to 547,557.

There were 1,649 new cases reported in the last two-week period as of Tuesday.

On Tuesday, there were 70 people reported in Orange County hospitals with coronavirus, including 14 who needed to be in intensive care units.

The county reported 10 more deaths on Tuesday, increasing the count of those who have died from the virus in Orange County to 6,901.

The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates, or gathered through the course of case investigations, and can take weeks to process. The most recent death recorded was on April 1.

Of the 6,901 deaths reported from the virus, 1,322 were skilled nursing facility residents, 699 were in assisted living facilities, two were O.C. jail inmates, and 21 were listed as homeless.

It is estimated 537,512 people have recovered from the virus. The count of people who have recovered is based on the prior 28-day cumulative case count.
