For weeks, members of the hip-hop boy band Brockhampton have had Saturday, April 23, circled on their calendars. They announced on social media in January that their performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival would be their last before going on an indefinite hiatus.
The group was formed in 2010 as AliveSinceForever, and was rebranded four years later as Brockhampton. Its founding members — Kevin Abstract, Ameer Vann, Joba, Matt Champion, and Merlyn Wood — all met in a Kanye West online forum while attending high school in San Marcos, Texas. They last performed at Coachella in 2018.
Members of the band, along with industry producers and musicians who worked with them along the way, took to social media to say goodbye:
Honestly, my heart is beating a hole out my chest since i woke up today. i cant believe Brockhampton’s last show is today,
i cant believe i won’t be 25 much longer,
i cant believe someone lived in the space that was my house before me and someone else will after its demolished pic.twitter.com/7heO8oB1Pk

The fact this is the last live streamed broadcast of @brckhmptn performing is wild, thanks for showing love and support. Tonight we celebrate the moment and toast to the future.

Today we say goodbye to BROCKHAMPTON. But their impact is forever. My life and many others were never the same after. May their contributions to art continue to blow my mind and comfort me. Love to you all. @merlynwood @kevinabstract @romilhemnani @henocksileshi @JOBAISREAL

Mannnnn @brckhmptn having their last show as a group tonight got me sad. They helped me get through a tough time in my life and I am forever grateful for their music. Saturation trilogy some of my favorite albums ever. Can’t wait for the finale, much love to you guys.
