High school and community college teams from around the region are participating in the Construction Industry Education Foundation’s 37th annual Design Build Competition, take architectural designs and other construction documents they have worked on since January and translating them into a structure, built in two day – to proper codes – in the parking lot of the OC Fair & Event Center.
The Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters is a main sponsor of the competition.
Many schools are expected to donate their structure to a local nonprofit of their choice after the competition, while some will sell their structures to help fund their campus program.
